Honesty, transparency, and meaningful communication in the workplace are emerging as the most important factors in maintaining employees’ trust in companies, especially during periods of organizational change.
This conclusion emerges from kariera.gr’s survey, which was conducted through LinkedIn Polls in May, recording employees’ views regarding the management of departures and the way these affect the workplace climate.
Transparency is a prerequisite for maintaining trust
The open and honest stance of management is the “key” to ensuring that employees’ trust is not lost during times of crisis. Nearly half of the participants (49%) highlighted management’s honesty as the most important factor when difficult decisions are made, a related announcement notes.
In addition, 31% of respondents ask for a clear plan for the company’s future, while 10% give priority to supporting those who remain in the organization. Finally, one in ten (9%) considers a humane departure process necessary in order to maintain balance and healthy relationships between employees and management.
Respect comes before the speed of completing departure procedures
Honesty and respect are the dominant demands for employees in the event of dismissal or the end of their cooperation. According to the survey, the majority of respondents (55%) seek a clear justification for the company’s decision, while 40% place humane treatment as their top priority.
Conversely, only 4% prefer a faster completion of the process, while just 1% are satisfied with a formal handling. These results confirm that, even at a particularly difficult moment such as leaving a company, employees rank respect and meaningful communication much higher than the speed of procedures.
Ongoing departures shake trust in management
Successive employee departures significantly damage trust in management. According to the survey, 67% of employees state that trust in the company is noticeably shaken when there are continuous departures of colleagues.
At the same time, 20% adopt a wait-and-see stance, waiting for official explanations before forming an opinion. On the other hand, only 8% believe that the climate can be reversed provided there is full transparency, while 5% remain unaffected. These figures highlight that continuous departures, even if accompanied by clear information and transparency, can shake trust and the spirit of cooperation in a company.
The departure of talented executives causes concern among employees
The frequent and mass departure of capable executives from a company acts as an “alarm bell” for the remaining employees. Nearly seven in ten (68%) believe that the departure of noteworthy colleagues is a clear indication of internal problems, while 19% admit that such an event would lead them to seriously consider their next professional step.
On the other hand, 9% attribute these moves exclusively to colleagues’ personal choices, while only 4% say they are unaffected. The above figures show that the departure of talented employees does not go unnoticed, as it can damage the corporate reputation and lead to a new wave of resignations.
The overall picture emerging from kariera.gr’s survey is that employees evaluate a company not only by the decisions it makes, but also by the way it communicates and manages them.
Transparency, timely information, and a human approach are necessary prerequisites for maintaining a healthy workplace climate, even when companies are going through periods of major change.
