Shell completed 100 years of presence in Greece, celebrating the anniversary with a special event at the Athens Concert Hall.
According to the relevant press release, representatives of the company and the Motor Oil Group, partners, people who have linked their professional path with Shell, as well as guests from the country's state and political leadership attended the event.
The evening was dedicated to the most important milestones in the history of Shell in Greece, from 1926 to today, as well as to the developments that shaped its modern presence. An important milestone was the integration of its activities into the Motor Oil Group in 2010 and its subsequent growth course.
The “journey through time”
The concept and production supervision of the anniversary event were carried out by YARD, with a central element being an original documentary film starring Giannis Stankoglou.
Through the story of a father who, together with his young daughter, begins a “journey through time,” the story of a family and Shell's course in Greece are presented in parallel.
Memories, narratives, and the journey of three generations record the evolution of the company in the country and the way in which a brand became connected with the daily life of Greeks.
At the same time, testimonies from people who were connected with or continue to be part of Shell's journey gave the narrative a more personal dimension.
Sakis Rouvas and Philharmonia
A special place in the anniversary evening was held by the artistic program, with Sakis Rouvas presenting a specially designed musical tribute, accompanied by the Philharmonia Orchestra of Athens.
With musical selections from different eras, the event connected the past with the present and the future. The evening concluded with the Wedding Singers.
“The completion of 100 years of Shell's presence in Greece is an important moment for all of us. For a century now, Shell has been part of Greeks' daily life and has been linked with the routes, needs, and changes that have shaped modern Greece,” said Kirki Kalantzi, General Manager of Coral Shell Licensee.
As she noted, the company's history “was built with our people, our partners, our station operators, and the millions of drivers who have trusted us all these years.”
“Today's anniversary is not only an important milestone, but also the starting point for the next chapter of our journey. Our first 100 years fill us with pride; the next ones are an inspiration and a responsibility for the future,” she added.
Today, Shell has in Greece a network of approximately 800 stations, maintaining relationships with consumers and investing in innovation.
The company, as it states, continues to evolve by following the changes in the country, in mobility, and in energy needs.
For Shell, its 100 years in Greece are not only a story of business presence, but also a journey of people, families, partnerships, roads, and destinations that continues to be written.
