Wonderful has opened its new administrative and technical hub for south-east Europe — Bulgaria, Turkey, Cyprus and Malta — in Athens. The company plans to expand its workforce further and is already in talks about potential acquisitions in the Greek market.Greece has been a strategic market for Wonderful from the outset, and was one of the first countries in Europe where the company opened an office. As noted at the event, Greece is among the company’s three fastest-growing markets worldwide, alongside Italy and Switzerland.
The significant increase in its workforce reflects Wonderful’s growth in the Greek market. “Last year there were two of us, and this year there are 31, with a plan to at least double that by 2027,” said Ilia Tzortzopoulou, General Manager, South East Europe at Wonderful.
Most of the staff at the Athens office are engineers. Across south-east Europe, the company aims to quadruple its workforce over the next year.
As well as expanding its workforce, Wonderful is considering potential acquisitions in the Greek market. Ms Tzortzopoulou said the company has a dedicated Corp Dev / M&A team and is looking at strategic acquisitions, either of local companies in markets with difficult languages or to accelerate its expansion among strategic clients. In Greece, she said, discussions were already under way and acquisitions were one of the areas under consideration.
International growth and funding
Wonderful’s expanding presence in Greece is part of the company’s broader international growth strategy. Founded only in January 2025, it operates in the applied artificial intelligence sector.
At the heart of its business is the Wonderful AI OS platform, which enables companies to develop and manage AI agents, automating customer service processes and internal operations.
Less than two years after its founding, Wonderful has reached a valuation of $5 billion, having raised more than $800 million from international investors. It now operates in more than 35 countries, employs about 850 people and serves more than 150 large clients across 12 different sectors.
The company has completed three funding rounds. It initially raised $100 million in a Series A round, followed by $150 million in Series B funding. In September 2026, it completed a $550 million Series C round, further strengthening its capital base for international expansion.
Its investors include Index Ventures, Insight Partners, Bessemer Venture Partners, IVP, Vine Ventures, 9Yards and Salesforce.
Partnerships in the Greek market
Greece has been an operational base for the company from the outset. Wonderful’s first project for Deutsche Telekom Group began in Athens, with its implementation at OTE. The engineering team was embedded directly in the organisation’s systems, connecting the platform without disrupting existing infrastructure.
In May 2026, Piraeus Bank put voice agents into production in just 12 weeks. The Wall Street Journal reported on the speed of these projects in Greece.
Wonderful now has seven commercial partnerships in the Greek market. According to Ms Tzortzopoulou, these include OTE, Piraeus Bank, Ethniki Insurance, ELTA, Viva, Hellas Direct and Autohellas/Hertz.
The company aims to expand its activities further in sectors including telecommunications, banking, energy, retail and shipping.
What Wonderful does
Wonderful’s main goal is to bridge the gap between the capabilities of artificial intelligence and its effective use by businesses. Today, organisations often adopt standalone AI applications to meet specific needs, without substantially changing the way they operate.
Wonderful’s approach is based on creating a unified platform, Wonderful AI OS, which connects employees, AI agents and applications, enabling the overall transformation of business processes.
The platform orchestrates AI agents, workflows and AI applications across an organisation. It is designed to be model-agnostic and integrate with existing information systems, without requiring continuous infrastructure changes or dependence on a single provider.
Wonderful AI OS includes tools for automating complex processes, digital assistants that boost employee productivity and support decision-making, AI applications that complement or replace legacy systems, and conversational agents for customer service.
These applications can operate independently or together, following common rules for security, governance and management.
To deliver projects, Wonderful’s engineers work directly with clients, taking responsibility for developing applications and bringing them into initial production. They then transfer the necessary expertise so businesses can gradually develop, expand and manage the platform themselves.
This model is supported by specialist local engineering teams, which tailor solutions to each business’s needs and help bring new applications into use more quickly.
The Cosmote TV case
A notable example of Wonderful’s technology in action is its partnership with Cosmote TV, OTE’s subscription television service, which serves hundreds of thousands of subscribers through satellite TV and streaming.
The large subscriber base generates a substantial volume of incoming calls about issues including set-top box problems, user authentication, subscription packages and billing. OTE aimed to reduce the volume of calls and the number of repeat enquiries without affecting the quality of customer service.
Wonderful developed and integrated an AI agent, completing the process from initial design to production in eight weeks.
The implementation required integrating Cosmote TV’s legacy and modern information systems, which did not communicate directly with each other. The AI agent was designed to handle ten different categories of enquiries, including subscriber authentication, troubleshooting technical problems, restoring satellite services, providing information on packages and pricing, profile management and searching TV listings.
The results show that 50% of calls are now handled without human intervention, almost three times the initial benchmark. The figure continues to rise as new capabilities are added.
At the same time, the average call handling time has fallen by 30% with the use of the AI agent.
