TOKYO, Sept 1 (Reuters) - Japan's Nikkei average edged up 0.4
percent on Wednesday, buoyed by exporters after the benchmark had
its worst one-day fall in three months the day before, although
the yen's continuing strength was likely to cap further gains.
Hitachi Ltd <6501.T> rose 0.6 percent after sources familiar
with the matter said the company is planning an initial public
offering of its hard-drive unit in the United States, possibly by
the year-end. [ID:nN25165909]
The benchmark Nikkei <.N225> rose 30.69 points to 8,855.41,
while the broader Topix <.TOPX> edged up 0.1 percent to 805.37.
