I Origins - film review

The plot of I Origins, a sci-fi drama about reincarnation, is so sustained in its ludicrousness that for a while we are spellbound, wondering if it can spin its plates for 100 minutes without breaking one, all or several. Molecular scientist Michael Pitt is researching the uniqueness (or not) of the human iris. Lab assistant Brit Marling and swirly-pupilled mystery beauty Astrid Berges-Frisbey are the women in his life. When one character dies and a new one is born, will the eyes prove the windows to a duplexed soul travelling through time? . . . By the time the film gets to India - where mysticism, we know, fixes all movie plot problems - it's hard to care.
