U.S. crude falls $1 as equities slide, stockpiles up

SINGAPORE, Aug 31 (Reuters) - U.S. crude futures fell $1 on Tuesday, extending losses for a second day, as expectations of higher crude inventories compounded concerns that a slowdown in global economic growth was hitting demand.

On the New York Mercantile Exchange, October crude <CLc1> fell $1 to $73.70 a barrel by 0558 GMT. (Reporting by Florence Tan; Editing by Clarence Fernandez)
